Brenton Boyd, the 2017-2018 ATOS Tutor of the Year, is a graduating English major from Norfolk, Virginia. Over the course of three years, Brenton has tutored more than seventy high school, undergraduate, and graduate students in the fields of academic writing, literature and cultural studies, and history. He is the recipient of such prestigious awards as the Mellon Mays Fellowship and the Institute for the Recruitment of Teachers Associateship and has received more than twenty-thousand dollars in research grants and stipends. Brenton Boyd has been with ATOS for the duration of his three-year college career. After Brenton graduates in the spring of 2018, he plans to pursue a Ph.D. in Africana Studies, with a focus on the literature and cultures of the Caribbean and US South.
